I bump this subject since I'm interested in the same thing.

I would like to have a single picture in my post and when you click it the picture opens in a pop-up window and while there you can browse the gallery. Is this possible?

i use nextgen gallery imagebrowser, start with thumbview and use lightbox as popup.., at this lightbox popup, how can i get rid of the counter like bottom line: "Image 1 of 10" ???

I am not sure if this is the same issue others have posted about. Any reason the pictures aren't showing up? I tried both a shortcode (

The Flash Player and a browser with Javascript support are needed..

and the widget, both with same result.
